True Gamers the leading international network of eSports clubs has unveiled plans to develop the world’s first eSports Island with a $280 million development, located in the periphery of the Al Seef area in Abu Dhabi..
According to a press release, the project is a result of a long-term research effort by True Gamers which included input from over 100 organisations that operate in the esports space. This apparently includes more than 30 teams from North and South America, Europe and MENA. True Gamers has specifically mentioned Virtus.Pro, Team Spirit and BetBoom as some of the organisations that provided input for the project.
The island will feature several locations focused on competing, providing boot camps or offering accommodation:
- Digital Tower – A bustling business hub featuring modern workplaces, startup accelerators, cutting-edge technology, and animation studios.
- TG Arena – A premier facility designed for international esports tournaments, digital exhibitions, and conferences. The arena is adaptable to different gaming genres and competition formats, offering specialized zones including a computer club with 100 high-performance PCs, a car simulator area with 20 platforms, a console zone with 20 PS consoles, and a fully equipped streaming area.
- GG Bootcamps – These camps provide professional players with an optimal environment for tournament preparation.
- GG Resort – A luxury hotel experience for all guests, featuring 200 lavish rooms equipped with high-performance computers. Leisure facilities include a spa, pool, and pristine beaches for a truly indulgent stay.
The project will be rounded up with a bootcamp section, which will be ‘akin to American collegiate fraternities’. The boot camp will feature accommodation and technology for training, and will be created with inputs from team managers around the world, according to the creators.
The island will also have a hotel, called the GG Resort, which will offer 200 rooms with gaming PCs along with traditional hotel amenities. The island will also have a ‘parachute jump check-in’ inspired by PUBG. Alongside True Gamers, a team of architects including Abdullah bin Baz and Haitham Khojali helped design the island project.
The island’s creators did not provide exact dates for its opening, but did note that they anticipate a return on investment in 10 years after the Esports Island is opened.
