Horse Review

Our resident tipster ‘The Stanimal’ offers more insight into horses to watch out for and reviews his tips so far ..

Impressed with thr 4 y-o Samyr trained by Joseph o’ Brien and owned by Robcour, sire of Sea the Moon had his debut on 25th January at Gowran Park over 2m on heavy ground. He travelled strongly throughout racing in 2nd over 5f out shaken up 2 out and led, ran on well and went clear. This was a comfortable win and impressed however no secret to most as he went off at 4/6 but his length win was easy and looks like a smart horse to keep an eye on.

Lossiemouth, another W P Mullins horse that could be one to watch but sadly won’t run in the Champions Hurdle taking on Constitution Hill according to connections but instead will go for a mare’s race. One day we will see a match-up between these two horses and I for one can’t wait!

Another horse that caught my eye was another Irish mount this one is trained by another genius Emmet Mullins. He ran in the Future Stars I.N.H flat Race Grade 2 at Leopardstown on 3rd February. Jeroboam Machin 5y-o won easily by 4¼ lengths beating a very good strong field of younger horses to keep his unbeaten record.

A future star – Jeroboam Machin

In the field there was the previously unbeaten A Dream to Share and the fields 10 runners was layden with potential superstars, five from W P Mullins an two from Gordon Elliott. My take from this race is back every horse that ran in this race next time out.

If you followed my tips from December you will see that Storm Heart won in style, Sir Gino has won 2 races and is now the hot favourite for the Triumph Hurdle. Jeriko de Reponet has won twice and many others have either won or been placed – So not bad!!

Now this a little different but Emmet Mullins (trainer) and Mrs J Donnelly (owner) whatever and where ever they have have horses running put your money on them as this is a winning team combination.
