Our resident tipster ‘The Stanimal’ shows his appreciate to a formidable owner and her love of horses.
I would like to talk about something that never gets alot of media milege and that is horse care, I have found one horse that has clearly been loved and looked after at great cost for years. I believe this is a great example of new owners who really do care about their horses well being and not just the money.
Tactical Move is a horse owned by Mrs J Donnelly, sire is in my opinion jumps sire of the moment Stowaway and trained by Mr W P Mullins.
Purchased in 2017 he was raced 370 days later at Ireland’s Punchestown placed 2nd not bad but again was layed of for a further 194 days before being seen again winning his first race and a prize pot of £5,000 at this stage Mrs J Donnelly had looked after this horse for 564 days. Sadly Tactical Move continued to have problems and was not seen for another 1158 days (over 3years), which during this time Mrs J Donnelly continued to pay out for food, upkeep, vet bills etc, the horse may not be running but the bills still keep coming!
On the 15th Jan 2023 Tactical Move runs againat Punchestown, he looked like he enjoyed the run flashing his tail when in the lead winning comfortably by 5½ lengths, afterwards once again he disappears for another 351 days returning 1st Jan 2024 to finishing 2nd behind Fairyhouse followed by a win at Gowran Park 24 days later on 25th Jan. Now at this stag Tactical Move is 10 y-o lightly raced with 5 runs under rules and after seven years of ownership only netting £18,525 in winnings, so my point here is that for some horse racing ownership is not just about the money but oh for the love of the horses and the game
