Description
The Lavochkin La-7 was a Soviet single-engine fighter aircraft used extensively during World War II. Developed from the earlier La-5, the La-7 is widely regarded as one of the finest piston-engine fighters of the war, known for its speed, maneuverability, and powerful armament. The “Fin Fighter” nickname is not an official designation but could refer to its sleek, streamlined appearance and outstanding agility in dogfights.
Armed with four 20mm cannons, it excelled in air superiority and ground attack roles. The La-7 played a crucial role in Soviet air operations towards the war’s end, contributing significantly to Soviet victories in aerial combat.
