TAG has unveiled a new limited edition version of the Monaco at the recent Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026…
First unveiled in 1969 the TAG Heuer’s Monaco broke all watchmaking boundries it was the world’s first square, water-resistant automatic chronograph and thanks to its unconventional shape and motorsport associations it quickly gained a cult following.
Jump forward to today and the reimagined version incorporates the Louis Vuitton Spin Time movement, a complication developed by Michel Navas, master watchmaker for La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton and first introduced in 2009.

Drawing on inspiration from motorsports the dial showcases 12-rotating pistons outside of a open skeletonized minute hand, every time the minute hand completes a rotation, one piston makes a precise 90-degree turn, unveiling the current hour.
Measuring 40 millimeters in diameter, the brushed or polished case is made of grade 5 titanium, with the crown seated on the right rather than the left, which is now obligatory on the Monaco chronograph. Four black DLC-coated openworked arches positioned at the corners suspend the circular movement within the square case, adding depth while a fixed sapphire bezel along with a domed sapphire crystal and sapphire caseback provide unobstructed views of the movement and its rotating displays.
Completely the sporty look is a black rubber strap with red hand-stitching.
Only 50 individually numbered pieces will be made with prices starting from £66,000 / $87,000, tagheuer.com
