The Guineas round-up

Our resident tipster ‘The Stanimal’ rounds-up the 1000 and 2000 guineas and offers more insight into horses to watch out for …

2yo Columnist trained by Richard Fahey and owned by Wathnan Racing was an impressive 2yo winner at Chester on Sat 25th May. Riden by Jack Garitty won the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes Class 2 on good-to-soft by 4¼ lengths on his debut making all, shaken up at the 4 furlong marker he went clear 1furlong out and quickening up, final furlong to win easily. Group races beckening for this very progressive bay colt. What might he do over a mile as this was over 6furlongs? Impressive

On the same card George Boughey brought his fast improving 3yo handicapper (at the moment) Fouroneohfever only 5 runners he was on for the treble for this year and he completed it in style, after taking a keen hold, he pressed the leaders 2 out and went wide on the home turn to lead, finishing very comfortably by 1¾ lengths. Watch out for him next time out

Meanwhile over at the Curragh ( IRE) A P O’Brien unleached a Wootton Bassett 2yo bay colt, called Henri Matisse. Dwelt, given time in rear to learn stayed with them switched and quickened disputed lead and won on the bob. Great ride by Rylan Moore not many would have won on him but he will learn and improve into something.

The form of Whistlejacket, Aiden O’Brien’s 2yo looks good at the moment. Therefore one to watch, but he did lose on his debut to follow Coward of the Country

Fallen Angel bounces back in the Irish Guineas | Healy Racing

Fallen Angel a Karl Burkes filly was made favourite for the English 1000 guineas coming 8th behind 28-1 hope Elmalka but out 21 days later in Ireland to readily take the Irish Classic and she did it in style. Fallen Angel will take a fair few of our Group Ones this season and maybe next if kept in training.

Congratualtions must go to Richard Hannon and Sean Levey. Richard taking first two places at the Tattersalls Irish 2000 guineas with Rosallion 1st followed by Haatem.

So in terms of form Vandeek took a bit of a battering but he will come back strong and smart in the sprints but the really strong form adds up to be Noteable Sppech as Rosallion and Haatem frank the form. City of Troy remains a strong Derby favourite. Inisherin wins well and looks to be a top sprinter.

Personally, I can’t wait for Night Rider to re-apper, I have strong feelings about him, maybe a 7 furlongs and smaller races in terms of not so many runners as in the guineas he seemed not to enjoy it and became unbalanced although we have to say it was only his 3rd race and remember how he won his first two races winning by 9 lengths and 5 lengths. An impressive horse and one to watch
