If you’re a billionaire cruising the world on the most luxurious of yachts is no longer seen as the ‘in’ thing, today, billioniares want to cruise our oceans under the surface which is why Migaloo has unveiled the M5 a 165-meter superyacht concept that also doubles as a submersible.
Packed full of amenties the Migaloo proposes to offer the same luxurious standards of a superyacht PLUS so much more. It carries at least two submarines onboard, as well as tenders, UUVs (unmanned underwater vehicles) ROVs (remotely operated vehicles), helicopters, drones, SUVs and pickup trucks, and even a hot-air balloon.
Measuring 165.8 meters (544 feet) in length, a beam of 23 meters (75.5 feet), and a draft of 8.6 meters (28 feet) it can easily accomodate a maximum of 20 guests and 40 crew member.
With a hybrid propulsion (diesel and AIP) it has a range of more than 9,300 miles and can travel at speeds of up to 20 knots (23 mph/37 kph) when surfaced and 12 knots (14 mph/22 kph) when underwater. When submerged it can descend to a depth of 820 feet and stay underwater for upto 4 weeks.
When you think of submarines you think of dark, tightly fitted environments, well the Migaloo is none if these, the Austria-based design studio intends to work with customers to design the interior of their dreams, so expect opulent dining rooms, indoor and outdoor cinema’s, swimming pools, a curated wine cellar, marble walls, soft furnishings and of course a helipad.
The M5 starts at a whooping $2 billion and that’s before the owner add’s their finishing touches and musy have luxury items.
