It may not look anything like a Tesla but Amercian design studio S-Klub LA has managed the impossible remodelling a Tesla so that it looks elegant and beautiful..
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is often regaurded as the most beautiful car ever made, developed in the 1950’s it was the epitome of elegance. A light, fast two seater race car featuring a tubular-frame construction and of course those head-turning gullwing doors. It was powered by a 3.0 litre M198 straight six engine producing a whopping 222hp.
Leapfrog into the 21st century, where beauty no longer exists only the adoption of electrification with Tesla the byword in car manufacturing. California-based startup S-Klub LA a private Coach Design Studio have leaped at the challenge to merge the old and the new and have taken a Model 3 Tesla and built a replica Mercedes 300SL on top of it creating something quite beautiful.
Whilst the pearl white exterior still looks elegant and like a classic Mercedes inside the car screams Tesla, the bold Tiffany tourquoise colour scheme is stark and minimal with a slim steering wheel and 15-inch touchscreen backed up by cameras and sensors for semi-autonomous driving.
The cost of purchasing this Tesla Gullwing Model 3 has not been made availble but its worth noting that an original steel-bodied 1955 300SL carries an estimated price tag of $1.4 million while the aluminum-bodied versions considered among the most valuable collector cars in the world was recently sold at RM Sotheby’s Scottsdale auction for $6.8 million
