Conceived as an immersive world of colour, light and form, the collection celebrates 20 years of design for women through a dreamlike dazzling language. Comprising 12 unique timepieces organised into four chromatic universes: pink, violet, blue and green – the collection approaches jewellery as an integral part of the watch’s construction, with stones shaping the unique character of each timepiece. Gem-setting informs every surface of the RM HJ-02, from the case and buckle to the movement itself.
The watches showcase the brand’s classic tonneau shape, measuring 30.7mm in length, 23.7mm wide, and 6.2mm thick made with a combination of both white gold and titanium that’s either been finished with polishing or sandblasting. Saying this you will be hard pushed to see much gold as almost every square millimetre of the case, bridges, rotor, and even the buckle is set with no less than 1,399 precious and ornamental stones
Inspired by Art Deco in design the jewels are set in maxamlist geometric segments (which took over a year to develop). The tonneau case no longer follows a single uninterrupted curve, but is broken into sharp transitions, layered planes and asymmetrical interruptions that radically alter its silhouette, meaning layered planes and asymmetrical details shine from every angle.
Of course the high-jewlery gems are not the only impressive part what’s equally interesting about the RM HJ-02 collection is the addition of the new in-house automatic tourbillon calibre CRMT2 that was developed alongside the case to ensure a clean integration between the technical and jewellery elements of the watch. The movement has a free-sprung balance with variable inertia to improve reliability against shocks, while it promises a power reserve of around 50 hours when fully wound..
