2Year Olds: Here are 3 who are worth watching

Our resident tipster ‘The Stanimal’ gives his round-up of horse to watch out for ..

Andrew Balding has some very nice 2yo’s that have caught my eye, a couple I like the look of are; Imperial Ballet, a Cheveley Park Stud filly, sire Blue Paint, dam O Sipova. She had a great ride from Oisin Murphy on the 28th August at Newbury. She was prominient, headway up the centre and led 2f out, ridden clear winning by 3½lengths. One to certainly keep on the right side of for the rest of the year, and can only improve.

The other Balding horse was 2yo colt Item, a great looking son of Frankel out of Capla Temptress for breeders Juddmonte Farms. This debutant was prominent until he lost position but stayed in touch with the leaders, headway over 2f out ridden over if out and led running on really well, strong at the line beating Devon Island for Charlie Appleby by 3½ lengths this being said Devon Island also goes into my book because this €650,000 colt remained prominent 5f out and continued to run on even when the race was won, so next time up I’m sure William Buick will save his horse and kick for home 1-1½f out and will win. I imagine he’ll have a busy international carer at 3yr.
