Mrs J Magnier, M Tabor, D Smith, Westerberg have a very promising No Nay Never bay colt “Avec Toi” born 25th March 2024 trained by Christopher Head. His Dam La Jaconde was not in horse terms very good at all winning only 1 race as a 1yo as a 2yo 4 wins with form figures of 5432 then missed a year so some misshap you would have thought. As a 4yo 3 placed and twice 4th, 3 placed 6th or worse then retirement for this bay mare. Now if I told you she was trained by A.P. O’Bien, owned by Tabor, Smith, Magnier & Westerberg and sired by the great Frankel so greatness not being rude missed her, but this appeared in the next in line with Avec Toi. But having said that Avec Toi’s sire No Nay Never also had hi racing problems with only six runs over two seasons winning 4, 2nd twice as a sprinter and is doing well indeed as a sire. Avec Toi has run 3 times in France and won 3 times impressively and is more then promising winning all 3 over 7 furlongs and he will get 8f and beyond and in one way he actually has a racing style like the great Frankel, likes to race from the front, so do not get on the wrong side of this one!
Jassas a Godolphin bay colt trained by Charlie Appleby actually came 5th on his 2nd run to Avec Toi but remember the name as he has alot more to offer as does Inner City Blue in the same ownership and trainer as Jassas, unbeaten in 2 one being a group 2 this bluepoint colt looks smart as does Desert Caster again under the same ownership but this March 2024 bay colt sired by Frankel and I think is as special as Frankel, we will see him contest in the best Group 1’s and EW for 2,000 Guineas 2027
Others A.P O’Brien’s Book of Kells unraced Dubansi bay colt Great Barrier Reef Group 2 winner and unbeaten Ryan Moore dropped him for another at Ascot so I got a nice 13/2 , more to come from him may not be the best but he will do well.
Louis De Foix new bay colt trained be P Twomey owned by Tony Bloom and Ian McAleavy will take his time but as a 3yo will pay his way. Unraced.
Mongram bay col ttrained by Joseph Patrick O’Brien raced once won in style looks a very nice Derby sort and 12/1 for Dewhurst could be anything!!
Wall Street, unraced, trained by A.P O’Brien a Sea the Stars bay colt may not be up there with the big names but the older he gets the stronger he will definitely become.
Rock Montreal, Blue Point bay colt, unraced for Roger Varian watch him have a gallop and he stood out, Breacher from a staple not normally talked about for top 2yo’s but I saw this Cracksman bay colt win very nicely for William Muir and Chris Grassick. This homebreed for R.Haim will pay his way and might be dinning out on the top table.
George Bougheys may surprise us as last year although I did shout about him with Bow Echo, I before all others noted him and told you all that all the big names would have move over now Boughey has arrived and I’m not saying Byzant will win the 2000 Guineas he has only had one debut race but he won it well but I did see Bow Echo in him, I will be doing a little eachway on this St Marks Basilica colt. Could echo what Bow did!!
You should all know that I said new owner on the baord for 2026 would be Sheikh Mohammed unfortunately he died a month after I wrote the piece but I have got a new name for you to watch out for Sheikh Juma Bin Dalmmok Al Maktoum, may just be knocking on the door of the person who hands out the Group race winners. He has a number of smart 2yo’s that will be challengers.
Supreme Justice by Justify trained by A.P. O’Brien has a beauty in this unraced colt, may possibly be a world beater – You heared it here first!
Lastly George Boughey has been brilliant this year and he will carry in on but one otehr to look out for is Oliver Cole, ony a small string but he has some nice horses to go to war with as3yo’s for next season
